If you are going to camp with us, you are invited to arrive and join us as we set up Friday morning.  Or, come and join us anytime before nightfall. 

If you are unable to stay overnight to test your winter camping skills, just come visit us on Friday, Saturday or Sunday for the activities scheduled below.

Frozen Prepper Days will test your cold weather preparedness. Come join us and experience the fun of learning about new skills.

Frozen Prepper Days is a multi-faceted event that includes:

• Amateur Radio (otherwise known as Ham Radio) Multiple Ham radios will be in use (see below for more information)

• Emergency & Disaster Preparedness and Survival Training and Events (See below for more information)

Amateur Radio - World Wide Communications

For many decades, throughout the world, when emergencies occur, especially when power is interrupted, civilian amateur radio operators spring into action and provide invaluable and essential emergency communications.  Today, all governmental organizations have a volunteer emergency radio system built into their emergency plans and operations.

The Winter Field Day Association (WFDA) is a dedicated group of Amateur Radio Operators who believe that emergency communications in a winter environment is just as important as the preparations and practice that is done each summer but with some additional unique operational concerns. Once a year they hold their national “Winter Field Day” event.  A huge number of amateur Ham radio operators, many of which are quite serious and dedicated, compete to see who can generate the most “Contacts” (People they connect with over the radio frequencies) or who can reach someone over the longest distance, and more.

NNPG, participates not to win prizes or achieve accolades. Rather, our goal is to allow those with no Ham radio experience to learn about its capabilities, how easy it is to use and simply to have fun.  We enable you to actually use the radio to make contacts…it’s loads of fun!

Emergency & Disaster Preparedness / Survival Training And Events

NNPG is dedicated to providing information and training to help you and your family in the event of a man-made or natural disaster.  So, come and learn in a fun environment as throughout the event there will be preparedness training, demonstrations and events.

  • All Day - Camping set up - Until Nightfall

  • All Day - Ham Radio/Communications and Use HF & VHF Radio (No license required) and Q & A.

  • 3 to 4p.m. Off Grid Power (Solar & Wind Power) - Components, System Requirements and System setup.

  • All Day - Q & A session 

• Saturday (24 Jan 2026)

  • All Day - Camping set up - Until Nightfall

  • All Day - Ham Radio/Communications and Use HF & VHF Radio (No license required) and Q & A.

  • 10 to 11a.m. - Water in an Emergency - Requirements, Storage and Related

  • 11 to Noon - Lunch & Food in an Emergency - Discussion of Freeze Dried Food & Canning

  • 12 to 1p.m. - Emergency medicine/First Aid - From Retired Fire Captain and EMT

  • 1 to 2p.m. - Drones in an Emergency - Uses, Features and Demonstration

  • 2 to 3p.m. - Prepping Gear - New Gear, Gear Storage, Maintenance and Usage

  • All Day - Q & A session 

• Sunday (25 Jan 2026)

  • All Day - Ham Radio/Communications and Use HF & VHF Radio (No license required) and Q&A

  • 10 - 11a.m. - Dakota Fire Pit and other Types of Camping Fires - Construction and benefits 

  • 11 to 2p.m. - Barter and Swap Meet - Bring your 'Stuff' and trade for something you want or need

  • All Day - Q & A session
